Introduction to American Sign Language
with Joseph Federico
An introduction to the basics of Conversational American Sign Language (ASL) and how to apply it for social purposes. This course is designed for students with little or no previous experience in the language. Learning ASL is a helpful skill for communicating with the ASL community at large. This course will focus on developing basic conversational vocabulary and grammatical structures, syntax rules, finger spelling, facial expressions and the awareness of Deaf Culture. With some practice, signing with the instructor and other students to keep a conversation going will help you improve your conversational sign language skills. Topics revolve around sharing information such as hobbies, holidays, activities, common phrases, and more, giving you a variety of vocabulary to learn. The more you sign the more it becomes natural to you!
