ATI TEAS Test: Canandaigua

The ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS®) measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. Submitting an ATI TEAS® (Test of Essential Academic Skills) score is a requirement for applying to FLCC’s A.A.S. Nursing degree program — a minimum score of 65% is required for acceptance into the program. The testing site or proctor will automatically submit your results from the ATI TEAS® exam to FLCC’s Admissions Office immediately following the completion of the exam session.

THIS IS THE IN-PERSON VERSION.  The test will be taken on a desktop computer, on-site at an FLCC computer lab.  Please arrive thirty minutes before testing begins.  Individuals must present a valid state/govt. issued photo ID.  No personal electronic items will be allowed into the testing area.  Calculators are embedded within the on-line exam.  A ten minute break will take place during the testing event.

If you identify yourself as a student with a disability and request testing accommodations you must contact the office at (585) 785-1670 ASAP!

Refunds will be processed for those students who officially cancel their registration by contacting the Workforce and Career Solutions office five business days prior to the date of test.

Planning for a Successful Retirement

Calendar May 2, 2024 at 7 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Offered to help reduce the financial uncertainty and anxiety often connected with retirement, this four-part workshop will guide participants in preparing a household retirement budget and developing a sound financial plan.

Explore strategies to maximize social security benefits and learn how to structure your retirement portfolio to provide the income you need in retirement. Acquire key financial knowledge and skills to help build and monitor an individual investment portfolio. Participants will also learn the issues involved with 401(k) rollover services, IRAs, annuities and other retirement accounts.

Finally, the workshop will help you answer many of the tough questions concerning health care costs, long term care and estate planning. Each participant will receive a course workbook and templates for a personal retirement income plan.

New York Safe Boating Course

This 8 hour course is an introduction to the basic principles of safe and responsible boating. Participants successfully completing this course earn a safe boating certificate. Adults and youth are welcome. Youths must be at least 10 years old to participate.To help ensure New York’s waterways remain safe and enjoyable, this course teaches basic boating skills and encourages common sense and courtesy to all who share the water. Topics covered include rules of the nautical road, required safety equipment, special boating related activities and many more.

 

Age policy: Participants must be 10 years old at the start of the course.

Effective 2024, all operators of motorized vessels born on or after January 1, 1978 need to carry a safe boating certificate while operating.

If you are 18 years of age or older, there is a $10.00 fee for your permanent boating safety certificate, payable to New York State Parks.  This is in addition to any course fees paid directly to your instructor. NYS Parks does not collect a certificate fee for students under the age of 18, but there may be a course fee charged by the instructor.

 

Cancellation policies: You must cancel your registration before Friday, May 10, 2024, at 9:00am CDT.

If you are no longer planning on attending this class, please cancel your registration so that those on the waiting list will have a chance to attend.

Phlebotomy Technician

The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team, whose main function is to obtain patient’s blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed throughout the healthcare system including in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, medical group practices, and in other healthcare settings. Healthcare industry experts predicted a 15% increase in phlebotomy jobs by 2021.

Phlebotomists should have/be: A high school graduate, or working on a G.E.D. In good health. MMR and PPD immunization records must be up to date. Dependable, patient, tactful, and have a desire to help people.

Students will learn:

  • The history of phlebotomy & the healthcare setting
  • Blood and blood composition, blood tubes, coagulation, venipuncture protocols, etc.
  • Infection control, safety, first aid, & personal wellness Universal precautions including safety protocols and infection control Laboratory operations (e.g. safety, quality control)
  • Blood banks and blood typing, lab departments and personnel Medical terminology and laboratory theory
  • Human anatomy & physiology of the circulatory system
  • Specimen collection, processing, and handling
  • Blood collection equipment, additives, & order of draw Venipuncture specimen collection procedures
  • Capillary puncture equipment and procedures
  • Arterial puncture procedures
  • Non-blood specimens and tests
